Safely working through these challenging times

Image shows a logging services application by the A38 highway at Derby UK on Tuesday May 5th as part of a project to eliminate roundabouts on the busy A38. We used Optical Televiewer, Acoustic Televiewer and 3-Arm Caliper probes deployed from one of our fleet of custom equipped service vehicles.

To minimise traffic disruption night working was required to characterise the adjacent subsurface, assisting the design work for the new interchanges with up to six 30m deep boreholes to be logged.

Robertson Geo continues to operate logging services in the Coronavirus lockdown by following all relevant advice and by ensuring measures are in place for safe working. Throughout the current crisis we have acted promptly and innovatively, as an example we commenced home working where possible the week before lockdown was announced and we have monitored the situation closely in other countries, often weeks ahead of the UK in terms of infection rates.

The Secretary of State for Business issued a letter to all construction staff stating that field work can continue through the lockdown period. The Construction Leadership Council then issued a set of Site Operating Procedures for companies managing sites and for those attending. In addition to this we have, after careful consideration, decided to produce a Coronavirus Risk Assessment for each individual job undertaken with guidance on navigating the “hot spots” that we encounter in the course of our business. In addition to social distancing and hand washing, RGS have also adopted the wearing of face masks and gloves in communal situations. Single occupancy vehicles and the absence of hotels and support facilities has required additional effort and planning in order to continue working safely.

Offshore work is also continuing on wind farms but with additional restrictions in place such as a quarantine period for all staff joining the operator’s vessel. Daily information on contacts, activity, symptoms and temperature readings has been submitted to confirm conformance to the quarantine period.

Robertson Geo is committed and determined to maintain the high standards of service our customers and users of our equipment have come to expect as we continue to be “open for business” and ready to respond to your needs.
