Position currently available: Logging Engineer for Operational Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a field engineer to join our borehole logging services team based in Llandudno, Wales. Robertson Geo Operational Services provide a professional borehole logging service worldwide, onshore and offshore, in the geotechnical, renewables, mineral exploration and water sectors.

The Role

Joining a team of field logging engineers, based in Llandudno, the role involves deploying a range of electronic probes in boreholes to collect geophysical data. This is a fast-moving business and all engineers must be prepared to work away from home for some extended periods at very short notice. The successful candidate will receive full training in the technical aspects of the role and in health and safety including working with radioactive sources. The global environments the team works in range from building sites through countryside locations to jungles and offshore vessels any of which can be physically demanding at times. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and vehicles for mobilisation to site
  • Conduct QC tests on all equipment prior to mobilisation to ensure conformance
  • Undertake site inductions and comply with site H&S requirements including POWRA
  • Rig-up/rig-down equipment safely over borehole
  • Run probes as required, adhering to client specifications, performing continual QC checks on data
  • Process geophysical data and produce reports to client specifications
  • Actively promote good team working, communications and shared learning

Qualifications and Experience

  • Good hands on technical skills and numeracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn software packages
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Team working and communications skills
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Familiarity with electronic and mechanical systems and the use of associated tools
  • Full UK driving license
  • Live/relocate to within commutable distance to Llandudno
