Hi-OPTV® surveys are now becoming an essential part of mining and geotechnical investigations. The high-resolution borehole images captured by the Hi-OPTV® provide precise structural and lithological information, allowing geologists and engineers to identify fracture orientation, bedding planes and rock fabric, correlate lithological units across boreholes, assess borehole stability and structural integrity and integrate geotechnical and geological data for more accurate 3D modelling.
Combining geotechnical and Hi-OPTV® data offers a deeper understanding of subsurface conditions, leading to smarter exploration and safer design decisions. Such surveys add value to these projects, as they map 100% of the borehole, even in highly fractured zones where core recovery is very low or even absent. Moreover, it is very cost-effective compared to coring.
The logging system deployed consisted of a Robertson Geo Micrologger2 (data logger), a 500m Winch, and a High Resolution Optical Televiewer (Hi-OPTV)®, with data processing and reporting provided by Robertson Geo GeoCAD® software, which has become an industry standard for log processing. The equipment was run by highly experienced Robertson Geo trained engineers.
Bullivant Arabia Ltd continue to expand its expertise in geophysical and televiewer surveys, supporting mining and infrastructure projects across Saudi Arabia.
